Geerts Deep Drawing now also processes Titanium
Durable, light, corrosion resistant and easy to process. During the past few months Geerts Deep Drawing has gained a lot of experience with the deep drawing of products and semi-finished products made of titanium.
Due to its excellent resistance against sea water it is also used in the maritime industry for the manufacturing of, for example, propellers. Titanium has a low mass density and is therefore easy to process and is used as alloy in bikes, golf clubs, laptop casings and smaller products.
Titanium is often used in the medical industry for, for example, hip implants, as it is light and is not rejected by the human body. It is also not toxic, which makes it suitable for other medical purposes and the food industry. It is particularly suitable for the food industry due to its neutral odour and taste qualities.
Titanium requires a slightly different approach
In order to achieve a beautiful result, titanium requires a different approach than, for example, aluminium, copper, stainless steel. Geerts is used to working with all these different materials and guarantees the quality and finish of its products.
Despite the many good qualities of titanium, it, just like other alloys, sometimes requires an additional procedure. The material must be clean and free from non-titanium materials. Titanium is different from other materials as it does not contain iron elements, is very corrosion resistant and does not require staining or passivation. Other benefits of using titanium are: it is durable, light weight, tension free and very strong, making it extremely suitable for the production of light weight constructions.
